Milan, February 12, 2013 - It is held today in Milan at the auditorium of the Pirelli conference "Renewable energy and energy efficiency scenarios and opportunities", sponsored by the Agency for Digital Italy and Fondazione Silvio Tronchetti Provera, the presence of the Minister Environment, Corrado Clini, the president of the CNR, Luigi Nicolais and Marco Tronchetti Provera, president of the Foundation.
On this occasion, the second Observatory for renewable energy and energy efficiency achieved under the agreement between Silvio Tronchetti Provera Foundation and Agency for Innovation *. The Observatory, promoted in collaboration with Bocconi University, Milan Polytechnic and the University of Milan Bicocca demonstrates the commitment that for 12 years the Foundation for Scientific Research.
The resulting data were collected by the Observatory in the book "Renewable energy and energy efficiency scenarios and opportunities", edited by Vittorio Church, professor at the Polytechnic of Milan, Giancarlo Giudici, an associate professor of the Polytechnic of Milan and Massimo Beccarello, professor associated with the University of Milan Bicocca which addresses the issues related to the most important technologies in the field of renewable energies (solar, hydro, with particular attention to --- mini hydro) and energy efficiency.
The advantage for the country to be more energy efficient, as is apparent from the Observatory, it could be a real enabler for growth: an increase in energy efficiency by 23% over the next 10 years would result in an increase in domestic demand over € 1.3 billion, with an average rate of contribution to GDP growth of about 0.5%.
Energy efficiency also could save the country about 2.5 billion a year in energy bills and 500 million euro cost of environmental externalities, providing new employment opportunities in the field of sustainable design, and implementation of digital technologies and networking to families, businesses and governments. The latter, in particular, will see the development of energy efficiency area of activity in which the investments would be amply rewarded by a reduction in consumption (benefits on the balance of payments), while the country have recorded a reduction in emissions (environmental benefits).
